Director of Major Gifts
Under the
director of the Foundation’s Executive Director/Hospital Chief
Development Officer (CDO), the Director of Individual Giving and Major
Gifts is responsible for building and managing a comprehensive
individual giving and major gift program, including the systematic
identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects
and donors.
Primary Responsibilities:

Work closely with
the
CDO to set goals and
priorities for major gift fundraising initiatives in alignment with the
overall strategic goals for the Hospital and Foundation.
·
Cultivate, solicit,
and steward an active, high-level pool of both major gift and planned
gift prospects and donors in order to meet NMH charitable goals.
·
In concert with the
CDO, develop a comprehensive annual giving plan,
setting goals, developing benchmarks, and implementing strategies to
achieve goals.

Support prospect
strategy development and assist with a moves management process and
prospect tracking system.
·
Assist
CDO in the administration of a
comprehensive planned giving program including marketing,
communications, and events for targeted constituencies; conduct and/or
facilitate programs to help generate interest in both major and planned
gifts.

Work with
CDO and Board Members in supporting
relationship-building goals needed to prepare prospects for major gift
solicitations.
·
Plan and implement
cultivation and stewardship events for major gift prospects.
·
Ensure prompt and
correct recording of gift transactions; ensure adherence to gift
acceptance policy; enhance current policies as needed and required.
·
Support a full range
of writing, editing, and communications-related assignments, including
but not limited to grant proposals, proposal letters, case statements,
reports, promotional literature, newsletter and on-line copy, talking
points, and donor stewardship collateral.
Qualifications:
Entrepreneurial self-starter with track record of success in cultivating
and
securing major and planned gifts from high net-worth
individuals; basic knowledge of full range of planned giving vehicles;
broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising and the ability
to participate in all aspects of the gift cycle;
strong interpersonal and communication skills;
experience working effectively with board members, top-tier donors, and
other committed volunteers;
proven ability to manage and work collaboratively as part of a team;
integrity; passion for the mission; Bachelor’s degree, minimum five
years’ development experience, preferably in healthcare or education.
